The mission of Mercurion is to reduce the barriers to international trade because we believe that trade should be simple. The strength of Mercurion lies in its roots in global logistics, trade finance and insurance in combination with our in-house IT development capability. Based in Rotterdam, the largest port in Europe, Mercurion is at the heart of the shipping industry, bringing international trade into the digital age.

Coming from a background in Law and finance Alarik has been part of the ‘simplification process’ in international business for many years. The tools to create cloud-based software platforms have come a long way and are there to be utilised. Jasper Brocades Zaalberg

A common theme throughout Jasper’s extensive career in the shipping and logistics industry is his focus on uncovering new business opportunities by embracing technological progress to achieve supply chain optimisation. His experience in global logistics gave him the ability to determine the efficacy of many operational processes. It became clear where the obstacles to international trade emanated from. It is Jasper’s mission to further reduce the barriers to international trade.

Joris Reijrink

Joris has extensive experience with the development of powerful software, supporting fast-growing innovative businesses. Before joining Mercurion he was involved in a variety of technology driven companies in different sectors, comprising financial services, automotive and telecommunications. Joris has been particularly motivated by a desire to marry versatility, user-friendliness and security.

Philip Wielenga

“It’s all about setting the right expectations“

Philip has been in sales for a long time and is passionate about encouraging people to embrace progress, serving them with better alternatives. Prior to his career in sales Philip worked in finance for over 15 years, as a treasury manager. During this period he came across many inefficient processes, causing him to decide to specialise in software. Encouraging people to use systems is promoting efficiency and simplicity; however, it’s all about setting the right expectations and delivering on time and within budget.

Menno Haesen

Menno has been helping businesses with the development and management of their Risk Frameworks for many years; in sectors ranging from Investment Management, Cash Management, and International Trade.
